PROJECT: Abu Dhabi International Airport
2006
Abu Dhabi International Aiport is undergoing significant development to increase passenger capacity to 40 million passengers per annum. The master plan includes a new passenger terminal, a second runway and associated taxiway system capable of accommodating Code F aircraft, an aircraft maintenance facility, flight catering building, new free trade zone associated with the airport, and appropriate infrastructure to support the new development.
Prior to the formation of Spear CE in 2009, employees of the company had worked at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Airport planning skills were used to assist ADAC in developing the master plan for the airport development.
This included:
- detailed planning of the East-midfield area
- preliminary siting of navigation aids
- airside road layouts
- flight catering building
- duty free building
- other ancilliary facilities
Planning was carried out to appropriate ICAO and GCC standards. Deliverables included optioneering studies, phased layout plans and documentation to support the proposed phasing.
